Founder and Psychotherapist
Angie Mayo is the founder and psychotherapist at Top Charlotte Therapists, a private psychotherapy practice serving adults and couples navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. She specializes in helping clients who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected develop greater clarity, confidence, and emotional well-being.
Angie's approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and personalized. She believes effective therapy begins with understanding each client's unique experiences, strengths, and goals. Drawing from evidence-based approaches, Angie helps clients gain insight into the patterns that may be keeping them stuck while developing practical strategies to manage emotions, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful change.
Angie has specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) skills, Clinical Anxiety Treatment, Psychodynamic Theory, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Her clinical experience includes private practice, hospice care, college counseling, and foster care settings, providing her with a broad understanding of the many challenges individuals and relationships can face.
Before becoming a therapist, Angie gained experience working internationally as a United States Government contractor and as a Peace Corps Volunteer in South Africa, where she developed and supported after-school programs for children in need. These experiences shaped her deep appreciation for resilience, human connection, and the many factors that influence how people navigate life's challenges.
Clients appreciate Angie's ability to provide a therapy experience that is both supportive and goal-oriented—creating a space where they feel understood while also gaining the tools needed to move forward.
